Welcome to Coastal Myofunctional & Speech Therapy©

My goal is to connect, empower, and offer hope to people of all ages through the power of speech therapy! I provide a variety of speech therapy services through a HIPAA compliant teletherapy platform called TheraPlatform. I am passionate about education and providing a holistic approach when treating communication and myofunctional disorders. I love connecting with people and making them feel heard! You are welcome here!
School District Speech Therapy Contract Services
I have extensive experience as a therapist for school districts in both Washington and California by providing teletherapy services to students of all ages. I strive to produce quality IEP's/Evaluations which address and correct speech-language disorders responsible for negatively impacting the student's academic performance. My customized services are designed to align with your mission as well as the individualized needs of your students. My specially-designed, proven approach toward speech-language therapy fosters a sense of confidence within each student as they are encouraged to master their goals. I am able to successfully collaborate with staff/parents/teachers across a wide variety of functions to include elementary, secondary, and high school settings.
Infant/Child/Adult Oral Motor Therapy and Rehabilitation for the strength, range of motion, oral function, and coordination of the tongue/lips/oral structures for optimal feeding or swallowing functions.
I am passionate about helping infants, children, and adults with their successful outcomes after tongue-tie, buccal-tie, and labial-tie surgeries. I provide individualized oral motor or myofunctional therapy treatment plans that will rehabilitate the function of the tongue and orofacial muscles for speech, swallowing, breathing, and achieving a proper at-rest tongue posture. As an orofacial myologist and an SLP, I empower my clients by supporting them with the pre/post body work needed to achieve the maximum range of motion of the orofacial tissues. It is vital that clients complete the aftercare stretching/Myo protocols for proper tissue recovery without re-attachment! The primary goal with babies include oral motor exercises that help promote proper orofacial development/integration of oral reflexes, increasing oral awareness or discrimination, and establishing vital muscle/motor patterns/functions that are needed for proper development/feeding. Benefits may include increased ability to breastfeed, decreased colic, decreased risk of childhood sleep apnea, increased proper development of the face/jaw, and improved breathing...all while potentially reducing the risk of dental problems or breathing/snoring issues later in life. I am able to help patients of all ages implement an appropriate stretch routine to optimize proper healing. I love working and collaborating with dentists, doctors, naturopathic doctors, orthodontists, lactation consultants, occupational therapists, physical therapists, chiropractors, and many other professionals in order to provide a holistic approach during your healing journey! I love working as a team and will sometimes bring a lactation consultant with me as needed.
Speech-Language Therapy
I work with clients of all ages, providing speech-language teletherapy services using fun, engaging, and interactive activities/ videos to create an environment conducive to learning! My therapy addresses a variety of communication disorders including articulation, language, fluency, social skills, grammar, vocabulary use, comprehension, and phonology. My approach is both interactive and engaging because I employ a variety of virtual activities which encourage increased participation. My unique ability to connect with the individual client/student seeks to incorporate their desires into the therapy session. Building rapport with each client is my top priority, because providing each individual with the tools necessary to meet their goals can increase their drive to improve while empowering them for success.
Orofacial Myofunctional Speech Therapy
I am a qualified orofacial myologist with a QOM certification. I am a trained orofacial myologist/myofunctional therapist through the myo training course called: Orofacial Myology: From Basics to Habituation by Neo-Health Services. I received an additional certification through the myofunctional therapy program called: Simon Says speech program which includes the Tiny Tips, Tongue Tips, and Thumbs up! programs. In addition, I am TOTS trained (Tethered Oral Tissue Tethered Oral Tissues Specialty) through the TOTS Training course. I will perform an assessment to determine if orofacial myofunctional disorders (OMDs) or tethered oral tissues (TOTs) are possibly causing a restriction that may be the root cause of restricted orofacial muscle movement or function. I assess the orofacial structures, range of motion, strength, tone, function, and coordination of the orofacial muscles. Following the evaluation, I am able to determine which treatment option(s) are best suited to address your unique needs. A few benefits frequently reported with OMD therapy: -Correct use of speech musculature during swallowing -Increased labial/lingual tone -Decreased snoring episodes are common -Improved teeth alignment -Improved eating/swallowing pattern -Improved palatal development -Improved nasal breathing -Decreased TMJ problems -Increased strength, range of motion, and coordination of the tongue or suck-swallow reflex -Improved tongue function to prevent orthodontic relapses -Decreased poor oral habits -Proper growth of the jaw and facial structures

What people are saying

"I just wanted to check in and let you know how T. is doing with her speech so far. T. is doing great! You did such an amazing job with her that I think she may be done! Another teacher even gave you kudos for the progress she has made!! That’s all you baby!! 👍"
★★★★★
Mom of T.S. (Age 5)
Los Angeles, CA
"Two of my boys ( 4 and 6 ) were struggling with S sounds and R sounds. Brittany worked with them in such a caring, engaging way. She remained upbeat despite some less than enthusiastic participation. It was so helpful for them to see the model of a mouth that she brought with her so that they could see where exactly their tongues were supposed to go to make the correct sound. After only one lesson, my son was enthusiastically showing me how he could say “RRRRROCKET!" correctly!"
★★★★★
Mom of H.H. and S.H. (Age 6 and 4)
Port Orchard, WA
"My student does not like attending school but he told me that he enjoys coming to his speech sessions. You have the touch! He said that you are a very good speech teacher and that you have helped him a lot."
★★★★★
Teacher of a high school student
Fresno, CA
"We can't begin to thank you enough for helping us right away with my husband's speech from a stroke. He was so faithful with his homework that you gave virtually and his speech came back fast because of you! Your help made all the difference! Thank you for being there for us!" ★★★★★ -D.
